AOE 2: Montezuma: Reign of Blood

Image
This story starts because of the forecasting of Montezuma's Priests. They predict that the God Quetzalcoatl might return from his exile. So, Montezuma order their soldiers to capture 4 shrines that are sacred to Quetzalcoatl and place a Relic in each of them. In the progress of developing the Aztecs, they got a number of enemies who will surely oppose the capturing of the shrines. So, Montezuma have to capture and hold all the four shrines from their enemies. My Scouts says that Tlatiluco is a small empire and can be dealt with early. Then Tepanaca is the next one with a castle and some decent base. The dangerous one is Xochimilco, who train Scorpions and archers. But I played in a very different order and took out Tepanaca first, then Xochimilco and finally Tlatiluco. I wasted nearly an hour and half, to develop my base because of poor planning. I just built a keep in my base and trained very few Skirmishers and concentrated fully of developing my economy and doing all the researc...

AOE 2: El Cid: Reconquista

Image
This is a continuation of previous Mission. But, in the between these two missions, El Cid die because of some disease. But, no one knows about El Cid's death. It was said that he was ill and cant come to battle field. So, the soldiers of El Cid fought the enemies thinking that El Cid is safely in the castle. Also, the El Cid's body placed in his horse outside the castle should come to no harm. Otherwise, the soldiers will know the truth and they will loose their morale and surely wont fight well. This is a tough mission from the start to end. Particularly, assaulting Yusuf's base is very hard. About El Cid's body, if the base of Valencia is protected well, then there will be no problem in protecting El Cid's body. I usually wont develop Navy, but in this game having a Navy is must. But, in the start I didnt develop my Navy. I concentrated on my ground units and economy. On game start itself, I attacked Black Guard Army, who is very near to Valencia. After a tough b...

AOE 2: El Cid: King of Valencia

This will be the toughest mission from the start to end. On game start, the Objective says "El Cid must once again find a new city in which to live" While searching for the new City, El Cid comes to Denia. The people of Denia hand over their empire to El Cid and plead El Cid to save them from the attacks of Berenguer. They has some small number of Units and Buildings. But, soon a Big army of Berenguer starts attacking Denia. There is no way, El Cid could defend such a big attack. So, El Cid and his units flee away from there and they reach Lerida, which offers El Cid some Villagers. Even, Lerida also cant resist Bernguer's attacks. So, El Cid again flee to find another City. Finally, El Cid reaches Valencia, which has some nice defense. On reaching Valencia, a new Objective appears, which says that "Defend Valencia from Berenguer until the Wonder is completed". Valencia, builds a Wonder with ONLY two Builders. El Cid have to defend the wonder at all costs. From ...

AOE 2: El Cid: Black Guards

Image
This is a great mission and at the beginning playing is so hard. But once, you established your base well with decent army, then there will be no problem to finish this one. Escort King Alfonso and El Cid to the new base, shown by a Knight. There wont be much resources inside the base. So, create many villagers and send them out to gather resources. Also, keep on developing your military units and defend the base from heavy attacks of the enemies. This will really be the toughest time. All the time, keep exploring for resources as they are scattered around. The Objective now is to Destroy 6 Black Guard Docks. To the south west of our base, there will be a wonder, named Black Guard Mosque. On exploring, a new optional objective appears, which tells to bring El Cid to the mosque. On bringing El Cid, it will tell to bring a Monk there, so that they will teach all the Monk Upgrades to us for free. So, bring a monk there and he takes time to learn the upgrades. Let the monk stand there and ...

AOE 2: El Cid: The Exile of The Cid

Image
The Objective is to find a new Lord for El Cid to serve. El Cid will be in the King Alfonso's area at the game start. El Cid will be given his Horse there and asked to go away from Alfonso's Empire. As soon as El Cid step out of the Alfonso's wall, he will make the Diplomatic stance to Enemy and his soldiers start attacking El Cid. On running away from them, El Cid get some loyal followers. Move a little forward, and El Cid gets a small number of Camels, who informs El Cid to join Motamid of the Moors at his Castle in Zaragoza. But, all the way to reach Motamid is blocked by dense forests and our enemies walls. So, El Cid must go to the mini base at the South of the map provided by Motamid to create some Siege. Four or Five battering Rams will be enough to destroy the gates and Castle of King Alfonso, which blocks our path. On destroying Alfonso's Castle, he calls for a Truce and changes the diplomatic stance to Neutral. Proceed North East from there to Motamid's Em...

AOE 2: El Cid: The Enemy of My Enemy

Image
This is little bit tougher than the previous Mission. On beginning a dozen of Toledo Villagers will be running away from their Town, because of the rebellion there. They will also tell El Cid to meet Imam to find a way to stop the Rebellion. Before searching for Imam, I establised my base near the place where Motamid's market resides and started developing my Empire. Also, sent out a few scouts to search for Imam. There is a small lake at the north of the Map. Imam is hiding in a small Island in that Lake. On bringing El Cid to Imam's Island, he tells that if El Cid manage to capture and bring 4 Relics from the Rebel Leaders, then Imam will be able to stop the Rebellion. I created a large army and started attacking my enemies. Their base is very much condensed with buildings, built very close to each other. Managing my large army in this no land area was very hard and I lost many of Units because of this stupid reason. Anyway, I built a Castle and military building just outside...

AOE 2: El Cid: Brother Against Brother

Image
At the Game start, King Sancho invites El Cid to a fighting Tournament, where El Cid should kill a Champion to win the Tournament. After killing the Champion, King Sancho challenges El Cid to face his Knight in the Arena. But, before the fight El Cid goes to a stable nearby and comes with his own Horse and defeats the Knight. A Screenshot of the fight at Arena: On winning this tournament, King Sancho is pleased and gives El Cid a small army with some Villagers. Also a new objective appears, which is to Capture King Alfonso, brother of King Sancho. I moved all the units to the center of the map, where there are some good wood resources and established my Base there. Quickly I developed the Military and invaded the lands of King Alfonso. He had plenty of Scorpions and well fortifies with Walls and Keeps. So, my mini Invasion failed. Then, slowly I created a large military with a number of Battering Rams and invaded them again. This time, my Battering Rams razed their buildings and their ...

AOE 2: Attila The Hun: The Fall of Rome:

Image
This is the REAL game, I have been expecting for. Unlike the previous missions, it keeps you engaged all the time and its difficult too. But, not too hard to finish. I played this one two times. The first time, I lose the game, because of Wonder Victory by my enemies. But, the second time, I played very cautiously and won. The main Objective is to defeat Milan, Padua, Verona and Aquileia and to parlay with Rome. The Rome itself does not have a good offencive power as they lost all their forces in the previous battles with hun. Most of the time, the enemies keeps on attacking us with small to medium size armies. You have to defend our base and at the same time develop a massive army with good siege weapons to destroy their Wonders. Yes, Padua starts to build a wonder after 5 minutes from the start of the game and after some time Aquileia and then Verona also starts to build a wonder. This is why, I lost the game when I was playing first time. I not at all expected them to build a wonder...

AOE 2: Attila The Hun: The Catalaunian Fields

This game is like a deathmatch, where you will be having 2000 wood, 8000 food, 8000 gold and 100 gold during startup. But, at the start, you wont be having your base, not even a Town Center, but will be having a small Cavalry Force. You have to establish your empire from the scratch and this time, you have an ally, Ostrogoths. But, they wont be of much help to us. While establishing the base, the enemies will raid us with small army. At that time, few units of our ally prove helpful. But, as the game progress, they didnt do much to mention here. The Objective of this game is to defeat Romans, Alans and Visigoths, same as the other games. I am bored of writing the same thing of building military, invading enemies and defeating them. Nothing special in this mission. Invading enemies goes in the following order... first Visigoths, then Alans and last one is Western Roman Empire. Saved Files:

AOE 2: Attila The Hun: A Barbarian Betrothal

Image
This mission takes place in Icy Place. This a nice change after playing all the games in grass land. Also, the coolest thing about this mission is that, Huns can now get into Imperial Age from this mission onwards. The Objective is to defeat three Empires, Burgundy, Metz and Orleans. After developing a small army, I went to attack Burgundy. Since, I didnt have a Castle to create Trebuchets, I created a small number of Battering Rams. On destroying the town center of Burgundy, they proposed an ally request for 500 gold and a Castle on their area for defense. Immediately, I retreated, and accepted their proposal, by giving them 500 gold and building castle on their land. I thought that they would be much help when invading other empires. But, these idiots not all developed any army. They keep on collecting the resources. Next I invaded Metz and defeated them easily with my mighty army. Next I went into the lands of Orleans and while fighting them a big Roman Army appeared out of nowhere....

AOE 2: Attila The Hun: Walls of Constantinople

Image
I played this mission a week ago. So, I dont remember the gameplay to very detailed level. Here, I write what is till there in my mind... The Objective of this game is to get 10,000 gold. But, you wont be having gold to mine from or market to trade with. Actually, the objective is to get 10,000 gold from Rome. To accomplish this, you have to destroy the buildings of Rome. On, losing some important buildings(like, Town Center, Dock, Castle, etc.,) Romans will pay you a hefty amount of gold and plead you to stop your attacks. This is the only source of Gold, and it has to be wisely invested. For ranged Units, I created Skirmishers, since they dont use up any gold and I invested all the gold in creating a good Cavalry and Trebuchets. Marcianopolis(Green) will be very near to us and they are fortified with a wall too. Marcianopolis itself will give nearly 3000 gold(think so, not sure) on destroying all their buildings. Next, I developed a decent army and went to attack the well fortified C...

AOE 2: Attila the Hun: The Great Ride

Image
The main objective of this Mission is to defeat Rome. But, at the start we wont be having any base, to build our millitary upon. So, we have to raid small empires in the map to get resources to establish a base. Since, this is a raid, there is no need to tear down all the structures. Getting resources from the small Empires is very easy and goes as follows. First one is Sofia. On destroying the town center, it gives some food. Next is Dyrrhachium who gives some troops. But, there is a catch. The troops are stationed near a Castle. So, you have to be quick enough to break the walls and get the troops out from there. I lost some of my horses, while breaking down the walls. Next comes Thessalonica, who gives Villagers on destroying all the houses. But, I cant built my base, even after getting the villagers as the wood was 0. So, I continues my raid. Then comes Adrianople with few monks and watch towers. Only the monks have to be killed and there is no need to go near the watch towers. Des...

AOE 2: Attila the Hun: The Scourge of God

Image
Yesterday, I started Attila the Hun Campaign on hard difficulty level and completed the The Scourge of God mission. On game start Bleda, the king of Huns challenges Attila for a contest. Some speeches goes on for a minute between Attila and Bleda. Then, Bleda betrays Attila, changes the diplomacy to Enemy. But Attila will be having some loyal followers. With their help, kill Bleda and all the remaining units and empire of Bleda becomes Attilas'. Make all your units to attack Bleda, so that the remaining unit of Bleda gets converted into Attilas' after Bleda is killed. Then, I started building my Empire. My gameplay style is build a strong empire with defensive forts, then create a large army and raid other civilizations. In this game also, I started gathering resources at light speed with nearly 50 villagers and establised a defensive territory. Then, I created a big army of Skirmishers and Cavalry. Also, I created a dozen of Battering Rams to tear down the structures ...

Sins of a Solar Empire: Won!!!

I won the Huge Random Map, that I was playing for about two weeks. In the End, I colonized 80% of planets in 2 star systems, wiped out all other players, except my Ally. But, hereafter, I surely wont play this Huge Random Map. It become very boring in its second half. But, I have to try out the other two Civilizations. So will be playing some medium sized map soon. And for those, who like to visit my Virtual Chennai and to check out the advanced techs like Novalith Canon, I give a link here to my saved file. Feel free to check it out
